This is the story of a foodie adventure launched by JoJo and Barrie Thomson

On 13 October 2015 we threw open the doors to The High Street Delicatessen in Newtown, in beautiful mid-Wales. Newtown is a historic market town, with a rich tradition of rural food production, and it feels timely to be part of a new movement to explore that heritage – and the wider Welsh food scene – and to bring great produce to local people

We set out to celebrate excellence and to show how excited we are about “bringing great tastes to the high street“.  We love sharing our passion for local food provenance and independent producers

For 2 years prior to our deli life, Mrs Deli (JoJo) was meeting local people and tantalising them with the ‘scrummy‘, ‘local‘ and ‘homemade‘ tastes of her baking at The Schoolroom Kitchen. During that time, many people asked ‘where can we get your cakes and bakes‘. The secret is well and truly out now … and we’ve added some amazing savouries to the list too.

At the same time, Mr Deli (Barrie) was writing his blog ‘Bookends and BinEnds‘ now overtaken by his scribbles and musings on our website and various social media platforms.

Together, we bring  you a passionate appreciation of great food, a strong belief in quality produce and an enthusiasm for and commitment to great customer service
