In our constant search for food and drink inspiration, we are lucky to get the opportunity to discover small businesses with heart and soul and purpose. We plan to share our discoveries, to pop these ‘kindred spirits‘ into the collective eyeline. We want to do this because we love what they do and we aspire to evolve The High Street Delicatessen to reflect their careful sourcing, their style, what they have to offer and the way they deliver it to their customers
A recent roadtrip to North Wales provided the perfect opportunity to introduce our first ‘Kindred Spirit‘, the Providero Fine Teas & Coffee Shop in Upper Moystyn Street, Llandudno.
Warm hugs from Jon and Ellie Hughes provide the perfect welcome to the latest speciality tea and coffee offering from this most hardworking and inspiring of couples.
Following the early days when top quality brews were served from a Citroen HY van, Jon and Ellie established the Providero Coffee Shop in the unlikely surroundings of Llandudno Junction. The coffee shop became so popular that it became a struggle to maintain the very high levels of customer service the Hughes’ demand of themselves. So they took the brave decision to create a second Providero to “steal a proportion of their own customers“.
And thus ‘Big Prov’ was born … well, a crowdfunding project was launched, which achieved its target of £30,000! It would be hard to overstate the subsequent transformation that has been achieved as Jon, Ellie and their team have peeled back the layers of an ‘ugly duckling’ high street unit to reveal an ‘elegant swan’ of a venue.
Mr Deli summed it up in a recent review:
